Property taxes climb. Insurance climbs faster. Maintenance and repairs don’t get cheaper as a house ages. None of that has much to do with your health or your stairs, it’s simply the cost of the house outpacing what it used to take to live there.
This is one of the most common reasons people move later in life, and one of the least talked about. There’s no shame in a house becoming a bigger expense than it once was.
