TALK OF THE TOWN
- Josephine County plans monthly property tax payments starting in early 2027, the first Oregon county to offer them. Bank transfers carry no fee and cards cost 1.99%, so owners can spread the November bill across the year.
- The county expects its next $500,000 block grant to fund about $400,000 in home repairs for qualifying low-income owners and $100,000 for mobile homes in parks outside the city. Park homeowners in the county have repair money on the way.
- On September 29, commissioners set conditions for a processing facility at 2581 Dick George Road near Cave Junction: water-use limits, truck access from Dick George Road instead of Greenview Road, and carbon filters for odor. Greenview Road neighbors keep the trucks off their street.
